Once in a while, we receive a tapestry for cleaning and repair. In many cases, these tapestries are damaged due to improper care and maintenance. They are hung for a long time without cleaning and sometimes they are not hung properly. Having a backing made of canvas or fabrics will help distribute the weight and this prevents to put pressure on the construction which in many cases is made of wool and silk.

Identifying the damages and then hand dusting and cleaning is very important before we start the repair and restoration.

 Then we prepare the wool and silk to do the repair. In many cases where there are holes, we need to make foundation.

This is a very delicate art work and it needs craftsmanship, expertise and patience.
