Today was Friday, Jan. 2nd, 2015 and our store was officially closed. I was at Costco doing some shopping and a gentleman called and said he had three sisal rugs for cleaning. He mentioned that he had the rugs in his car and wanted to drop them off today. I said I could go to the store and wait for him if he could drop them off between 12:00 to 2:00 pm. He said he would.

I went to the store and opened the doors and started to do some paper work. A return and old time client and his wife came in and dropped off nine Navajo kilms/flat weaves for cleaning and repair. We chatted for a few minutes and they left. A client called in and said she has eleven Navajo kilims for cleaning and appraisal. I scheduled this for pick up next week.

Meanwhile the client who had called for the cleaning of three sisal rugs came in and dropped them off. I sold him rug pads for the three rugs. He mentioned he just moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. He is a designer and contractor and has a lot of clients who will need our services. He appreciated me coming to work to accommodate him.

A client called and said he needs to buy a rug and wanted to come in. Since our employees and workers were off and I had no one to help me show rugs to her, I said we were closed and asked her to come in tomorrow Saturday between 12:00 to 5:00 pm.

Another client called and said we cleaned a rug for her and she wants to trade that rug in with another rug. I told her to come in when we’re open this coming Saturday or next week.

A client called and said she had a 7’x10′ Turkish kilim for cleaning. She got the address and brought the kilim in after an hour and I offered protectant for her kilim and she liked it and paid for cleaning and the protectant.

Another client called for pick up of her five rugs for cleaning. I scheduled it for Saturday between 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

It was a busy first day of the work in 2015 and I had to stay at work until 5:00 pm.
