Ardabil Carpet’s Last Day in Los Angeles
CategoriesRug Ideas
Yesterday was Monday September 5, 2011. It was the Labor day and an official holiday here in the U.S. It was also the last day of a wonderful exhibition called the “Gift of the Sultan” in which the famous Ardabil Carpet was on display. This exhibition was in Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA. I went to see the Ardabil Carpet for the fifth time and the last time around 1:00 pm. LACMA was exceptionally crowded as many tourists who had come to Los Angeles for the long Labor day weekend had come to visit several exhibitions in this very fine and unique museum.
I went right to my favorite place in which the Ardabil carpet was on display on a platform. Looked around and took few new and fresh pictures from the carpet. It took only a minute and the security guard approached me and said sir, no pictures please. I said but I am not using flash. She politely said it does not matter; you cannot take pictures. And I said OK. I had already taken my few last pictures!!
When is the next time LACMA will put this beauty on display? Who knows. I am sure even the curators do not know that. I am extremely happy that this time, I visited this beautiful and amazing carpet for five times. What a joy!
